Peter Colley presented a fascinating insight into the world of night photography illustrated with some superb images, each one accompanied with technical details  particularly focal length, ISO and exposure time. Many images were multiple exposures to improve signal to noise ratio. A 14-24mm f2.8 lens was a popular lens although longer lens were also utilised.

The images depicted a selection of nightscapes and some of the amazing objects that can be captured with fairly standard photographic equipment. This talk included how to capture even more celestial objects and in greater detail by adding a tracking mount : a simple device that costs no more than a modest lens.

The importance of adequate research of the location, together with detailed weather forecasts was emphasised. Some specialist software for night photography such as darktable had been used.

Overall, a very informative and enjoyable evening.
